Kabuki Rodeo Sizing in search of the Australian Standard

There is nothing standard about Australian Sizing. Once upon a time, way back when I first learned the art of pattern drafting there were no computer grading systems, no iPads , no CAD it was me, a roll of brown card, my square rule, French curve , measuring tape, enough muslin to make Christo drool and of course my battered tattered photocopy of the Australian Standard.

I had no doubt that those high waisted 80’s jodhpurs were the perfect size 8, 10 ,12 I had every measurement I needed to make sure. That 14C bra was perfectly crafted to the 14C measurements right there in black and white.

Jump forward to this brand new century, sorry millennium,  and what do we have? No Idea!

So please help this Kabuki Rodeo rider,  strip down to your favourite underware  grab a tape measure and run it around

1. The fullest part of your bust

2. The smallest part of your waist

3. The widest part of your hips.

Don’t pull that tape measure tight, use CM and please let me know
a) what size do you usually wear
b)”how do you measure up”

Memories of my grandmother inspired this beautiful dress. She wore this style for everything, from serving at the country corner store she and my grandfather ran to picking fresh vegetables from the garden for our dinner. In every colour she wore this style and it never got old.
